FedEx

Overview

ShipScience requires a FedEx login with access to:

  • Billing Center — to retrieve invoices and submit automated disputes
  • Claims Center — to file and manage claims
  • Reporting — to access shipment and claims data

You can use an existing FedEx login, but creating a dedicated login for ShipScience is strongly recommended.

Creating a Dedicated FedEx Account for ShipScience

Complete the following three parts in order. Parts 2 and 3 grant the new user access to specific FedEx services after account creation.

Create a Dedicated User (Admin Account Required)

This step creates the account only — it does not grant billing or claims access.

Step 1: Log in to FedEx as an Administrator.

Step 2: Navigate to Administration.

Step 3: Go to UsersCreate New.

Step 4: Fill in the user details:

  • Name — use a generic name like "Claims Manager".
  • Unique ID — use the format: {company name}_ss_claims
  • Email — use the email populated from the ShipScience portal (see below).
  • User Role — select Standard.
  • Contract Information — select Update with Company Information.
  • Associated FedEx Accounts — select all.

Step 5: Set login credentials:

  • User ID{company name}_ss_claims
  • Password — use the generated password from ShipScience.

Getting the Email and Password from ShipScience

To retrieve the email address and generated password:

  • Navigate to Data Sources in the ShipScience portal.
  • Click Add Account.
  • Click Generate Credentials for 2FA.
  • Copy the generated email — it will look like: [email protected]
  • Copy the generated password.

Permissions

Permissions can be configured in two ways:

Either way, the administrator must grant access to all account numbers. This gives the user access to those accounts in the Billing Center (after billing access is granted in Part 3) and for claims filing.

🔧

If a user already exists but is missing account permissions, an administrator can grant access from the User or Group Administration pages linked above.
